Deputy President Motlanthe concludes his Anti-Poverty visit to the Taung Agricultural College, North West Province
Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe today, 10 April 2014, visited the Taung Agricultural College, in the Greater Taung Local Municipality, North West Province, as part of the Anti- Poverty Programme.
The Taung Agricultural College has just been re-accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) to offer NQF level 6 Diploma in Agriculture specialising in Irrigation Techonology. Its strategic location is within the agro-ecological proximity of both the Taung Irrigation and the Vaalhaarts Irrigation Schemes.
The College received a donation $1 million from a Danish research and engineering company, Haldor Topsoe.
The Taung Agricultural College has furthermore received an additional amount of R30 million from government allocated for infrastructure development projects.
Deputy President Motlanthe was accompanied by the Minister of Home Affairs, Naledi Pandor, the Deputy Ministers of Mineral Resources, Godfrey Oliphant and he was joined by the Premier of the North West Province, Thandi Modise.
