Deputy President Ramaphosa to chair the 15th meeting of the Human Resource Development Council of South Africa
Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will, on the 15th August 2014, chair, for the first time as its chairperson, the 15th Human Resource Development Council of South Africa (HRDC) to be held at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House.
The HRDC is a national multi-tiered stakeholder advisory body established in 2010 under the leadership of the Deputy President and under the management of the Higher Education and Training Minister, Dr Blade Nzimande. Its purpose is to build the human resource development base required to ensure a prosperous and inclusive South African Society and Economy. One of the main tasks of the HRDC is to identify blockages in the system so as to unlock them.
The meeting is expected to discuss amongst other things the Strengthening of capacity for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges as the locus of vocational skills that our industry and the economy needs. This area focuses on expanding access, improving quality of programmes offerings as well as quality TVET College Lecturers.
Other issues expected to be on the agenda include the development of a Worker Education Framework that will form the basis of the current context of worker education in South Africa.
