Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to address the 2nd Human Resource Development Council Summit
Midrand - Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, will on, Tuesday, 29 March 2016, deliver an opening address at the 2nd Human Resource Development Council Summit to be held on Tuesday – Wednesday, 29-30 March 2016, Gallagher Estates Convention Centre, Midrand Gauteng.
The address of Deputy President Ramaphosa will focus on the theme of the Summit, namely Partnerships for Skills – A call to Action.
The Summit is expected to be attended by more than 500 delegates that includes, representatives from organised business, labour, civil society organisations and government.
The Summit will among others evaluate progress achieved in human resource development since its last meeting held in March 2014
Issues for discussions include among others:
· HRDC Strategic Framework
· HRDC Related Statistics
· Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration in support for local production of pharmaceuticals
· Strategic Partnership on Foundation Learning
The Summit presents a platform for all stakeholders to deliberate on how the country can accelerate the development of skills in critical sectors of our economy in order to address the challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality.
The Department of Higher Education is responsible for the identification of critical skills required by the country.
The HRDC was established in March 2010 and is chaired by Deputy President Ramaphosa supported by Minister of Higher Education Blade Nzimande.
