Deputy President Ramaphosa to brief Parliament on SADC facilitation efforts in Lesotho
Cape Town - Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will tomorrow, Thursday, 01 September 2016, during oral replies brief members of Parliament on his South African Development Community (SADC) facilitation efforts to consolidate peace and stability in the Kingdom of Lesotho during the National Assembly session in Cape Town at 14h00.
Deputy President Ramaphosa was in Swaziland on Monday-Tuesday 29-30 August this week, where he briefed the SADC Double Troika and Summit of Heads of State and Government on his efforts to facilitate the return from South Africa of three Lesotho opposition leaders back to the Kingdom of Lesotho.
In addition, the Deputy President briefed the Summit on progress regarding the implementation of recommendations for the constitutional and security sector reforms.
In addition, Deputy President Ramaphosa will also appraise members of Parliament on government’s progress in pushing back the frontiers of AIDS and TB. This comes within the context of resolutions of the recently held AIDS 2016 International Conference held in Durban in July 2016 under the theme “Access Equity Rights Now”.
In this context the Deputy President will highlight government’s programme of action in pursuance of outcomes of the AIDS 2016 International Conference.
Deputy President Ramaphosa is also scheduled to brief the National Assembly on what the response of ordinary South Africans has been to the call of government to contribute their time in service of their fellow human beings within the context of international celebrations of the Nelson Mandela Day and the impact thereof on national efforts to consolidate social cohesion and nation building.
In the context of efforts to attain the objectives of the National Development Plan, Deputy President Ramaphosa will outline government programmes aimed at addressing job creation in particular and human resource development strategy in general.
