Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to return to Lesotho to resume facilitation

Pretoria – SADC Facilitator and South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will, undertake a third visit to the Kingdom of Lesotho from Tuesday and Wednesday 30 Sept - 01 October 2014 to continue with his facilitation efforts on behalf of SADC to assist in bringing the country back to constitutional normalcy.

The visit comes in the context of the Southern African Development Community (SADC)’s Double Troika mandate for Deputy President Ramaphosa to help create dialogue among all Lesotho’s political and other role players with a view to addressing their current political and security challenges.

The Facilitator is supported in these efforts by SADC Deputy Executive Secretary Dr Themba Mhlongo who is leading the regional body’s team of experts and members of the Secretariat including Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana.

During the last two visits undertaken by the Facilitator, Deputy President Ramaphosa paid courtesy calls and briefed His Majesty King Letsie III, met with members of the Coalition Political Parties including Prime Minister Tom Thabane, main and small opposition parties, the IEC, the Council of Churches, the College of Chiefs as well members of the NGO sector.
