President Jacob Zuma announced in his 2015 State of the Nation Address that a Central Supplier Database (CSD) would be introduced on which suppliers will only be required to register once when they do business with the state.

As of 1 September 2015 prospective suppliers are now able to self-register on the Central Supplier Database.

The CSD will result in one single database to serve as the source of all supplier information for all spheres of government, and provide suppliers with a standard, simplified and automated supplier registration process.

The purpose of centralising government’s supplier database is to reduce duplication of effort and cost for both supplier and government while enabling electronic procurement processes.

Go to www.csd.gov.za to register now, or contact National Treasury for further clarity on the process at csd@treasury.gov.za or 012 315 5509.
