President to meet traditional leaders on virus outbreak

President Cyril Ramaphosa supported by Deputy President David Mabuza will this morning, 24 March 2020 meet with traditional leaders, to reinforce the national response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The meeting will take place at the Sefako M. Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse in Tshwane.

The engagement with traditional leaders forms part of a series of consultations the President is holding with various stakeholder constituencies – including communities of faith, the nation’s political leadership and business leaders- since his declaration on 15 March 2020 of the national state of disaster.

The President has initiated this process to ensure that the national effort to combat and contain the virus is inclusive and enjoys the support of all stakeholder groups.

A media pooling arrangement has been put in place or arranged for media practitioners who can cover and attend the meeting. Further enquiries in this regard should be directed to Shadi Baloyi on 072 571 6415.
