Deputy President Ramaphosa meets Business Leadership South Africa about electricity situation
Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has welcomed Business Leadership South Africa’s (BLSA) commitment to help government address the difficulties arising from the constrained supply of electricity in the country and the issues facing Eskom.
At a meeting with the Deputy President today, Friday March 20, 2015, BLSA expressed its willingness to work with government to restore public and business confidence in Eskom as the national electricity utility and in the economy at large.
Business Leadership South Africa underscored Eskom’s strategic importance to the economy and called for a resolution to the challenges confronting the utility.
Deputy President Ramaphosa welcomed the interest of business leadership in forging a national response to the current situation.
The business delegation was also briefed on the work of government’s war room in responding to the current electricity constraints.
The meeting with BLSA is one of a number of engagements that the Deputy President is undertaking with key social partners on the country’s electricity supply constraints.
