President to address National House of Traditional Leaders

President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the annual official Opening of the National House of Traditional Leaders (NHTL) at Parliament on Tuesday, 25 February 2020.

The President participates annually in the official opening of the National House of Traditional Leaders which takes place in the days following the State of the Nation Address. This engagement enables traditional leadership to engage on how the President’s vision relates to traditional communities and the role traditional leaders play in moving South Africa forward.

The National House promotes the role of traditional leadership within a democratic constitutional dispensation. As custodians of culture and heritage, traditional leaders promote the interests of various communities and enhance unity and understanding among traditional communities, in addition to advising national government on issues affecting communities.
