President to present SA Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan to Parliament

President Cyril Ramaphosa will later today, Thursday, 15 October 2020, present the South African Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan to a Joint Hybrid Sitting of Parliament.

The Plan aims to expedite, in a sustainable manner, the recovery of South Africa’s economy that was, like most economies, deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The plan has been widely deliberated among government and social partners – business, labour and community - under the auspices of the National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC).

Earlier this month, the draft plan was tabled at the Cabinet Lekgotla - in which provinces and local government participated - with further inputs made at a meeting of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, which the President chaired.
